GWR Red and Amber Weather Warnings

Published: 06 December 2024

Following Red and Amber weather warnings in relation to Storm Darragh on parts of our network, we are advising customers to change their travel plans if possible this weekend (Sat 7 and Sun 8 December).
Although we still expect to be able to run services, strong winds mean Network Rail will put in place speed restrictions to ensure safe running of trains, increasing journey times. Fallen trees and other debris may also impact services.
Customers with tickets for this weekend can be used on Monday 9 December, and if they no longer wish to travel at all they can claim a refund. The latest journey information is available at www.gwr.com/check and this will remain updated as usual throughout the weekend. We’ll also be providing updates through our social media channels at www.x.com/gwrhelp, www.x.com/networkrailwest and www.x.com/networkrailwal.
On Sunday 8 December, train crew availability means a significantly reduced service will run on our long-distance routes. Online journey planners will be updated overnight on Saturday as our team look to get as many services covered as possible.
Any help you can give to make your networks aware would be greatly appreciated, and as ever if there’s anything we can do to help please do get in touch.
Best wishes
